  1.                    WHAT GREENHOUSE GARDENING IS

  4. Let's start this chapter off with, first of all, what greenhouse
  5. gardening is not!  Greenhouse gardening is not hard!  But, it is
  6. rewarding!
  7.  
  8. Many people in the past have thought greenhouses were a luxury, but
  9. once one is owned, it soon changes the owners mind!  Now, with the
  10. ADJUSTABLE GREENHOUSE PLANS, included in the Registered Version (to
  11. register, return to the Main Menu and choose, HOW TO REGISTER), a
  12. greenhouse need not be expensive.
  13.  
  14. Anyone who has done gardening in the open will be applying their 
  15. knowledge to the greenhouse, just altering it a little to garden
  16. under glass.
  17.  
  18. A greenhouse is not always a "hot house", as it is sometimes called.
  19. Plants usually do their best at temperatures slightly lower and with
  20. a much higher humidity than is usually maintained in our houses.
  21.  
  22. A small greenhouse can have its temperature regulated relatively easy.
  23.  
  24. There are 6 main reasons an amateur uses a greenhouse:
  25.  
  26.    (1) Raising plants for winter use.
  27.    (2) Holding over garden plants to be used as "parent" plants next
  28.        season.
  29.    (3) Getting an early start for tender plants started from seed.
  30.    (4) Increasing the possibilities of a greater variety and 
  31.        continuous supply.
  32.    (5) Easier culture of small vegetables for winter use. 
  33.    (6) To propagate, and experiment with various plants as a hobby,
  34.        or to develop new varieties.
  35.  
  36. Also useful is an activity center which might include: a shed and a
  37. work bench, which would give easy access to both tools and materials.

  39. The type of greenhouse you choose will depend upon your likes and 
  40. what you would like to use it for.

  42. The vegetables and flowers of your dreams can come true in your very
  43. own greenhouse!
